This is a great way to have baked potatoes ready when you come home. I own two crock pots. In one I have my meat and the other I have a vegetable, some type of side or dessert. You can create a whole meal in a crock pot.
After being a zaar lurker for years, I finally am posting so I can find this recipe again. My husband gets up early for work and likes steel cut oats, but I don't want to be slaving over the stove or have a nasty crock pot mess. So I found this method on a blog (I don't know where exactly), and tried it last night. It worked perfectly! The oatmeal brulee came off a different blog and I haven't tried it but it sounds absolutely yummy!
Easy homemade candy in your crock pot!
A hot spicy meatless crock pot dish — and easy, too!
balsamic vinegar, cayenne, chickpeas, cumin, ginger, black pepper, garlic, coriander, onions, salt, tomato, vegetable oil
Tip for oatmeal: make it in the crock pot overnight! It comes out very creamy from the slow cooking, and I love being able to get up and have that hot steamy bowl right away without having to do anything at all. You do have to clean up the crock pot, but you can make a large quantity and refrigerate the leftovers to be heated in the microwave for the next several days. I use two cups of oatmeal at a time, which is enough for four breakfasts (for me, anyway; probably more for people who don't have huge bowls like I do).
I eat a LOT of applesauce (as a side dish, for breakfast, for a snack with a piece of cheese, you name it) and it seems silly to be buying it so frequently. I'm not always able to find unsweetened kind every single time I go to the store, so I make my own when I can, the way I like it and I finally got around to writing things down last night when I made a batch. Some may prefer a little more sweet in this recipe or may need to compensate for the apples being more more tart occasionally than other times. The types of apples I use vary, but I try for 2 or more kinds, any combination except Red or Golden Delicious as these types don't seem to make good applesauce. Organic seem to be best, but the selection wasn't very good for buying for this batch, so I peeled the non-organic apples before coring and chopping because I didn't want all the wax, but peeling is not an absolutely necessary step. Throwing it all in the crock pot is so easy and makes the house smell so nice!

A hearty vegetarian curry prepared in the crock pot to allow flavors a long melding time, yielding a deep, savory, and, depending on your curry powder, explosive dish.
cardamom, cardamom, cayenne, curry powder, ginger, kidney bean, olive oil, potato, tomato, white onion
This recipe is the crock pot adaptation of Mrs Falafel's Lentil and Apricot Soup from the alt.food.vegan newsgroup. It must be one of the most popular recipes ever to come up in that group and it is also superb and even easier in the crock pot. I throw it all together before work and eat it about 8 hours later. The apricots mush down and all it needs is a quick stir before serving.PS. Auto setting on my crockpot is one hour on high and then the rest on low.
chili powder, cilantro, coriander, cumin, dried apricot, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, vegetable oil, onions, red lentils, salt, turmeric, water
A healthy breakfast. Throw it in the crock pot before bed time and wake up to a sweet smelling house.
After reading many different crock pot potpourri recipes I came up with this one, and my house smells wonderful!
